Xavier's Kung Fu demonstration in assembly

Xavier got to show off his passion for Kung Fu at whole school assembly on Friday.
His sister and their friend Menae-Rain demonstrated their Kung Fu moves.
We were impressed that they could chop paper in half.

Samoan Language Week: Joliath saying a Samoan Poem

Room 3 was really proud of Joliath at the special Samoan Language Week Assembly.
He did a poem in Samoan without any words written on a piece of paper.

Samoan Language Week: Tapa Mats with Room 11

We designed our own Samoan Tapa Mats for our Assembly.
We were very fortunate to do it with our buddy class, Room 11.
They turned out amazing and a lot of people said they looked excellent.

Wishing our Kowhai Leaders all the best in Rimu

We wished Cyrus, Madden, Poseidon, and Mila all the best being leaders in Rimu Block.
They are going into Room 7A with Miss Charleton and other Kowhai Leaders.
We look forward to catching up with them and finding out how they are going.

Kahurangi Performance Group

We were very fortunate to have Kahurangi Performance Group do a performance for us,
They sung some waitata and told some myths. We really enjoyed watching and listening.

Sapphire singing at assembly

We were super proud to see Sapphire go up and sing in front of the school.
She did such an amazing performance. We cheered so loud for her.

Duffy Books

We were very fortunate to receive two books from the Duffy Books Trust.
We decide that we would spend the afternoon engrossed in our books.
Thank you Mrs Bedingfield for handing out the books.

What is Gravity?

We spent our afternoon looking at the affects of gravity on  classroom objects.
The experiment started with a discussion on 'What is gravity?'. Mr Featherston gave us an example of gravity affecting a pen compared to jumping. We got into pairs and found four objects from the classroom. We were allowed to stand up on chairs and drop the objects from a height. We then came back for a discussion on what objects had more or less gravity.
Check  out our photo of us doing the experiment.

Constructing an airplane and sky vista

We have been really creative by making an airplane each.
We created and coloured a pattern on our plane.
We made a sky vista full of white clouds.
Once it was dry we cut and glued on our plane.
They are now flying high in our classroom.

Room 3 Library with Whaea Pip

We were very fortunate to have Whaea Pip the school librarian come and do an awesome reading session.
Whaea Pip shared two books with us that had a fish theme. We had a great discussion about both stories about the ideas, themes, and characters.
We started two related artworks with a fish theme and we will be finishing them next week. Please come into Room 3 and check out the artwork.

Learning to swim like a fish!

We have been learning to swim at Cannons Creek Swimming Pool in the afternoon.
We were taught different skills in swimming. We learnt to float on tummies like a starfish. We were diving under the water like dolphins. We practiced our kicking using a flutter board. We even did two lengths of backstroke of the swimming pool by ourselves.
We would like to say a big thank you to our swimming instructors who taught us some amazing swimming skills.

Action Pack First Month in Room 3

In Room 3, we have been doing so much learning through writing, reading, maths, and other curriculum areas. We have a theme this term  called 'Look Up'. We are exploring everything to do with flight and the sky. We have done several wall displays in the classroom.
You are more than welcome to come into the class and have a look at these displays.

Guess Who is Room 3 for 2017?

We have made our very own Guess Who Game Board with our self portraits.
We have not put our names on our self portraits. It is up to you to guess the students that will be in Room 3 for 2017. We had an awesome time drawing ourselves.
Your are more than welcome to come to Room 3 and play 'Guess Who is in Room 3?'
