Guess my number...


We have learnt a new maths to help us know the numbers between 1 - 100 using a hundreds frame.
We are asking with strategic questions so we get the number quicker.
When we win we become a Grand Master and run the game at the end of Maths.

This week in our writing we took inspiration from trip to Nga Manu Sanctuary.
We made origami duck faces out of paper and decorated them.
We were describing what the ducks at Nga Manu Sanctuary like to do there.

Keira Thomas was awarded the Star Student in Room 3.
Jadyn Lafaele was awarded a Principal Award for receiving five certificates.

Our adventure to Nga Manu Sanctuary, Waikanae


We were fortunate to go on a trip to Nga Manu Sanctuary.
We spent the day exploring different parts of the sanctuary.
We saw different sorts of animals that are native to New Zealand.

We would like to say a special thank you to the parents that came on the trip with us.

We were writing a set of instructions for another person.
We are very lucky that Mrs Bartley had three life jackets for us to try on.

Visit our Rock Pool


We have been installing a Rock Pool in our classroom.
The sea creatures we have in our rock pool are crabs, starfish, jellyfish, and fish.

Celebrating success in Room 3

In Room 3 we love celebrating our success we have at school.
Zche-Ztevon has graduated from Reading Recovery with Mrs White and is now an expert reader.
Isbella had a stellar hockey season playing for the Year 1-2 team and was awarded the most improved player.

Constructing Ruma 3 Rock Pools


We are learning to construct a rock pools in Art.
We have made all the creatures that we are going to have in the Art piece.
Our next step is to make the rock pools for the creatures to go in.

Ruma 3 Awa, (Week 3, Term 4)


We are learning to explain how to make a man-made river.
In our writing we wrote a set of instructions on how to construct the river.
On Friday as a class we made the river following our instructions.

We are learning to construct and make a paper boat to sail in the Room 3 Harbour.
We followed the instructions we had written about in our book.
All of our boats managed to float on the Room 3 Harbour.

Fantastic end to Term 3


We were so fantastically busy in the last two weeks of Term 3!
We dressed up in wacky fashion, and learnt new netball skills with Super Star Irene van Dyk. We wrote about Steve Adam's determination and loved receiving our new Duffy Books. We buddied up with Room 15 for Olympics Day and were sad to say farewell to Rusi-Ena Lilo.
Wow!!! We deserved our holidays!!!

Oscar Maths Group, Week 6



Jadyn and Henare have been working on different combinations of making 5 using material like counters. They would explain how they know there is 5 altogether by counting and adding the material together by themselves. Jadyn and Henare finished off with a game of Spotty-Dotty and beat Mr Featherston by winning more grid sections.

Mauria te pono (Believe in yourself) Award, Week 4 Term 3


Hi, my name is Henare. I went to Mr U's office because I was doing a great cleaning up in my classroom. In assembly I got an award for good reading in the school library. Mrs Komen gave me the thumbs up for my good work in Kapa Haka.

Henare, you have had a fantastic week in Room 3. We have seen you step up in your reading, writing, and maths. We have seen you take leadership in Room 3 and making sure our classroom is up to standard with our expectations. We are so looking forward to see what you do next week and for the rest of the year. Saying goodbye to Rusi-Ena


We had to say a big farewell to one of our most enthusiastic students in Room 3. Rusi-Ena always has such a positive outlook at school. She makes everyone smile and feel happy. Rusi-Ena absolutely loves to give her best in all aspects of learning. She is taking all her amazing qualities to Australia. We wish her all the very best and we believe she will be very successful in whatever she does. Arohanui.

Future Ferns Netball with Irene van Dyk



We got offered to take part in Future Ferns netball programme. We were coached by Irene van Dyk a Silver Fern Legend. We learnt a few skills and games from the session. We are keen to learn more about netball as a sport. We will be bringing a booklet home on the Future Ferns netball programme.

Te Reo Maori with Room 1 Students




We were very fortunate to have Cassidy, Merehana, Jahzel, Jayden, Mykah, and Te Mahruru who came worked with us. We came up with motivational comments in Te Reo Maori for how we would give support to the athletes competing at the Olympics from New Zealand. We then cut out different shapes using the colours of the Olympic Rings to make our poster pop and exciting.

Usain Bolt (Writing Topic Week 2)


We have been writing about Usain Bolt who is the fastest man over 100 metres and 200 metres. He has several gold medals. We thought we would see if we could beat his running times that he set at the Olympics.

Home Learning Term 3 Update


Kia ora/Malo/Kia orana/Hello,

On Tuesday 26th July your child came home with a laminated spelling word list.
I'm really happy that all the children have enjoyed practicing their words and was
evident on how well they did on Friday.

We do require the spelling list sheets to be returned each Tuesday so I can give them more words to learn and practice at home.

Visit from Constable Rick & Constable Amy


We have had an amazing Wednesday morning!! Constable Rick and Constable Amy came in and taught us two amazing lessons. We were learning about being responsible and making sensible choices. We really had a cool time with them. We learnt so much.

Swimming at Cannons Creek Swimming Pool


In Week 7 and Week 8 we spent our afternoons learning to swim at Cannon Creek Swimming Pool. We were learning to float, go under water, and move in the water. On the second last day of swimming we did some water safety activities with our instructors. We are looking forward to summer to put our swimming skills into action. #makingasplash

Samoan Language Week Assembly


Room 3 was so proud of their class mates who took part of the Samoan Assembly. Rhys, Mathew, Jadyn, and Rusi-Ena were amazing in all their performances. It was fantastic way to end Samoan Language Week,

We were learning some pretty crazy and weird games with Mr Roberts. We were singing, dancing, and pulling faces. We had so much fun and laughed so much. Thank you Mr Roberts for having us in your class.

We had been working so hard on our learning that we decided to go to the Zoo for the day. We went with Room 2, 4, and 16. We saw tigers, chimpanzees, lemurs, monkeys and many other animals.
