Oscar Maths Group, Week 6

Jadyn and Henare have been working on different combinations of making 5 using material like counters. They would explain how they know there is 5 altogether by counting and adding the material together by themselves. Jadyn and Henare finished off with a game of Spotty-Dotty and beat Mr Featherston by winning more grid sections.

Mauria te pono (Believe in yourself) Award, Week 4 Term 3

Hi, my name is Henare. I went to Mr U's office because I was doing a great cleaning up in my classroom. In assembly I got an award for good reading in the school library. Mrs Komen gave me the thumbs up for my good work in Kapa Haka.

Henare, you have had a fantastic week in Room 3. We have seen you step up in your reading, writing, and maths. We have seen you take leadership in Room 3 and making sure our classroom is up to standard with our expectations. We are so looking forward to see what you do next week and for the rest of the year. Ngaa mihi Room 3 and Mr Featherston

Saying goodbye to Rusi-Ena

We had to say a big farewell to one of our most enthusiastic students in Room 3. Rusi-Ena always has such a positive outlook at school. She makes everyone smile and feel happy. Rusi-Ena absolutely loves to give her best in all aspects of learning. She is taking all her amazing qualities to Australia. We wish her all the very best and we believe she will be very successful in whatever she does. Arohanui.

Te Reo Maori with Room 1 Students

We were very fortunate to have Cassidy, Merehana, Jahzel, Jayden, Mykah, and Te Mahruru who came worked with us. We came up with motivational comments in Te Reo Maori for how we would give support to the athletes competing at the Olympics from New Zealand. We then cut out different shapes using the colours of the Olympic Rings to make our poster pop and exciting.
Please come and check them out. We were really happy with our end product.

Usain Bolt (Writing Topic Week 2)

We have been writing about Usain Bolt who is the fastest man over 100 metres and 200 metres. He has several gold medals. We thought we would see if we could beat his running times that he set at the Olympics.
Please come and read our writing that we have done. We have been working really hard on it.

Home Learning Term 3 Update

Kia ora/Malo/Kia orana/Hello,

On Tuesday 26th July your child came home with a laminated spelling word list.
I'm really happy that all the children have enjoyed practicing their words and was
evident on how well they did on Friday.

We do require the spelling list sheets to be returned each Tuesday so I can give them more words to learn and practice at home.

Any question or queries please email, call, or pop into class.

Thank you for supporting your child's learning at Rangikura School.

Nga mihi,

Mr Ciaran Featherston
